May 2, 2015 - Global Country Star Search and Global Country Artist Concert
Global Country Star Search took place at the Mercury Room on May 2, 2015. Winning the youth 13 to 17 age category was Josh Ruzycki of Sherwood Park, with Nichole Sumerlyn from Abbottsford, BC, as the runner up. In the over 30 age category, Nicki Pearson of Edmonton was the winner, with the runner up being Michelle Lavallee of Redcliff. In the 18 to 29 category, Ben Klick from West Kelowna, BC, took the trophy followed by Mariya Stokes of Calgary. All winner and runner ups are entered into the Global Country mentorship program which takes place in Edmonton and also Nashville, Tennessee, and all will have the opportunity to travel with Global Country to Nashville in March 2016, and also to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where they will compete in the North American Country Music Associations International competitions.
In the evening the Star Search winners performed in concert with previous Global Country winners and special guests The Dirt Road Angels. The Angels will be working with the new artists as part of the mentoring program and will be travelling with Global Country to Nashville and the NACMAI competitions.
