September 17, 2016 - Dolly Parton "Pure & Simple" tour hits Rogers Place
It was pure Dolly Parton, "Pure & Simple" when she played the new Rogers Place on September 17, 2016. Backed by only a three piece band, and a simple white curtain backdrop that changed colors with the lighting, it was almost like visiting Dolly in her living room as she spun stories about her childhood in the Smoky Mountains and ran through some of her most memorable songs, including "Jolene" and "Coat Of Many Colours". Proving her musical versatility she played guitar, banjo, dulcimer, piano, fiddle, harmonica, penny flute, and even her own custom sized saxophone. Breaking the show into two segments with an intermission in between, the country legend, who is now 70 years old, provided a show that lasted 2 1/2 hours. Dolly has just released her 43rd album, "Pure & Simple" which the tour is named after.
