May 26, 2014 - Charley Pride at Jubilee Auditorium
In what has become a yearly tradition, Charley Pride returned to Edmonton and the Jubilee Auditorium for his annual spring appearance on May 26th. Opening for Charley this year was his own band, The Pridesmen. As always, Charley kept his fans entertained with his lively humor and a huge number of hit songs. Charlie, who was born in Sledge, Mississippi, in 1938, has won numerous awards throughout his career, including Country Music Awards, American Music Awards, and Grammy Awards. In 1993 he became the first black artist to be invited to join the Grand Ole Opry, in 1994 he received the Pioneer Award from the Academy of Country Music, and in 2000 he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
