October 15, 2014 - Riders In The Sky at Festival Place
On October 15, 2014, the Riders In The Sky stopped by Festival Place as part of a tour through western Canada. Since 1977 the Riders In The Sky have been keeping alive the music and comedy of classic cowboy stars of the Forties and Fifties. Featuring lead singer/guitarist "Ranger Doug, the Idol of American Youth", (Douglas B. Green), singer/fiddler "Woody Paul, the King of the Cowboy Fiddlers", (Paul Chrisman), singer/bassist "Too Slim, the Man of a Thousand Hats", (Fred LaBour), and "Joey, the Cowpolka King", (Joey Miskulin), the Riders in the Sky have performed over 6200 live performances, made almost 300 national television appearances, done over 200 public radio shows, appeared on the Grand Ole Opry over 700 times, been in three television series (including a 1991–92 CBS Saturday morning show), and released more than 30 albums. They have won two Grammy Awards and have written and performed music for major motion pictures, including "Woody's Roundup" from Toy Story 2 and Pixar's short film, "For the Birds".
